Valentine's Day

Here it comes, the day that we dread,

All the memories of the cards I have read.

All without meaning and all without heart,

All picked off the shelf and placed in a cart.

Only a few have ever tried,

To show the feelings they have inside.

Standing beside you at your locker, at your door,

Their feelings are hidden, ones you've had before.

This day seems a chore, to hand out those cards,

But when you're rejected, your heart burns to shards.

So forget the misgivings, and focus on love,

Of family and friends and the peace of a dove.
