The Day Captured
To gain control by force.
The time of light between one night and the next.
Capturing the day is to capture the sight, hear, smell, taste and touch.
I saw the familiar laughing faces of my friends,
Working and writing swiftly on paper.
I smelled the old November smell of the air,
Cold and airy.
I touched the moist pen in my hand,
From my perspiration.
I heard the scratching noise between papers and pencils,
The flipping pages of dictionaries,
And the country music coming from the speakers.
I tasted the taste of air,
Cold, air-dried and salty.
Capture of the day is to gain control of the time of light between one night and the next by force.
